Frutti Battaglio - Lime

Lime

Origin:Mexico, Brazil

Many believe that limes are identical to lemons and that "lime" is simply the english translation of this name, but this is incorrect: it is a different citrus fruit, with its own properties. Limetta belongs to the Citrus family, but it prefers tropical climates to mediterranean ones.

Small and slightly oval in shape, limes are green and occasionally tend towards yellow, with a very juicy and aromatic pulp, less bitter than lemon pulp.

Preparation

Lime juice is used in some of the most famous cocktails in the world: it's the most commonly used fruit by bartenders!
Lime can even be used instead of lemon in recipes for entrees and first courses, in condiments and in traditional indian recipes alongside curry.

For a tasy natural snack, squeeze a few drops of lime juice onto an avocado and add a pinch of salt.
