The journey
of our fruit

from earth to table

How do we bring the best fruit to the tables of Italy and beyond? Thanks to our experience and dedication from years on the ground: these are essential components in our journey, in the past, present and future.

Pere Battaglio

Our years of experience allow us to discover the most productive plantations in the world. Every one of our collaborations is born out of a careful examination of the land and its ability to provide us with the best fruit.

While interacting with trusted farmers, we create transparent and loyal relationships. Our partner companies are solid, and can guarantee correct volumes and adherence to agricultural norms.
This is the journey of quality fruit.

We select the best from all over the world

The importance of land

Each fruit has its own specific nature, seasonality and processing methods. But when it comes to quality, the land is what really makes the difference. This is why we import our products from countries that have climate, landscape and soil characteristics that are perfectly suited to provide us with the best varieties of fruit, according to type.

Pineapple

Our pineapples arrive by ship or by plane from Costa Rica: this country is particularly good for this cultivation, for the favourable climate and temperature. Our fruit reaches the perfect ripeness and turns sweet, tasty and a beautiful intense yellow on the plant.

Avocado

Avocado

Our Hass avocado travels by ship, coming from Perù, Chile, Mexico and Colombia. Once picked off the plant, our avocados complete their ripening process, reaaching the ideal consisteency with soft and creamy pulp.

Frutto della passione

Passion fruit

Our passion fruit grows in selected plantations in Colombia. When ripe, the fruit falls naturally off the plant and are quickly prepared for their boat voyage.

Mango

Mango

Our Palmer, Kent and Tommy Atkins mangoes come mainly from selected plantations in Brazil and Perù. Thanks to the speed of air travel, our mangoes arrived at the right stage of ripeness, ready to be enjoyed.

The journey of bananas and the art of ripening

We take care of our bananas during every stage of their journey, from the earth to ripeness, according to tradition.

After the harvest, we select the best bananas, we pack them while still unripe and we prepare them for shipping, which occurs every week to guarantee maximum freshness. The bananas are now ready for their journey by ship, lasting from 16 to 28 days. As they are climacteric fruits, which ripen by breathing at high temperatures, they must be transported at 13-14° to leave respiration at a minimum. When the fruit arrives at our location, our expect ripeners insert them in special cells and, by modulating the temperature and ventilation, start the ripening cycle. Ethylene is the first part of the process: a natural gas appearing in certain varieties of fruit, which is diffused into the cells after a warming period. While being visually and manually checked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, our bananas reach the perfect colour and ripeness, ready to be tasted and enjoyed.
